These resemble woodcuts, very rich in their tonality. As I keep looking, it's as though the surfaces bob and weave; there's a real sense of movement. (not sure of the little buoy on the top though, if that's what it is.)
I think the 'buoy' functions the same way the bolt does in your last painting, it's the necessary anomaly, keeps the think awake (gives it an eye.)
